Background

It is the year 2557 A.D. The war has become a quagmire after five years of fighting between the Solar Union's Orbital Surveillance Force (OSF), tied in with the Terrestrial Government which seeks to monopolize interplanetary trade, and the Interplanetary Free Trading Organization (IFTO), a union of space immigrants who want free trade among the colonized planets.
With no end to the war in sight, deterioration in the soldiers' morale has been the cause of a rising crime rate within the Orbital Surveillance Force.
After careful consideration, the General Headquarters established the Agency of Investigation for Military Forces (AIM), working under their direct supervision to enforce order within the army.
With investigation and arrest rights independent of military commands, the AIM was disdained and feared by the soldiers as “Crows Yards—scavengers flocking to decaying meat…”

Outline

Captain Anko Irii, the timid supervisor newly assigned to the AIM, is forced by the team's troublemaker, Second Lieutenant Joe Murasame, to forge an imaginary local hire by the name of “Yuri Justy” to cover up his outrageous use of funds.
However, during a mission on Jupiter, the two are saved by First Lieutenant Yuri Justy, a man who isn't supposed to be real. Now with three members, the AIM Team A works to crack intra-military cases such as tracking down deserters, theft of machine prototypes and assassination of officers.
One day, Anko visits a funeral hall to attend the first anniversary of her mother's death, but the hall is hit by a terrorist attack. After finding out that the attack was self-inflicted by higher military officials, Anko begins to question the upper ranks. As she investigates further, she learns of the "Sophia Project," and that her mother was deeply involved in it. With knowledge of the higher-ups' dark schemes, Anko's team find themselves cornered desperately in an assault by the military's special forces...

About "Orbital Surveillance Force"

The Orbital Surveillance Force （Solar Union's Orbital Surveillance Force） was established to secure the safety of interplanetary routes in the early stages of space immigration. However, by the time the war breaks out, the Orbital Surveillance Force is under the control of Earth, which manipulates the interplanetary economy.
The Orbital Surveillance Force protects the routes between each planet, and it also has bases on these planets. As a matter of fact, space is so vast that the Orbital Surveillance Force so far has not been able to achieve a decisive victory. Moreover, long warfare has devastated soldiers' morale and discipline. The military police (a.k.a. “Crows Yard”) is then established to maintain high discipline and morale among the soldiers by capturing turbulent elements within the army.
